Kerala Flood : Navy Team heads to Wayanad for rescue operations

Kochi : As the torrential rains continues to wreck havoc in Kerala, the Navy is heading for Wayanad for the rescue operations. The Navy team is expected to reach Batteri via helicopter by noon.

Wayand is one of the severely flood-hit state. So far 80 landslides have been reported in eight districts.

The Indian Coast Guard has mobilised 53 disaster response teams for rescue operations in the flood-devastated districts of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala.

A massive landslide at Puthumala near Meppadi in Wayanad buried a large area under debris, with many trapped under the rubble and mud So far, nine bodies were recovered from the site.

The continuing heavy rains and landslides are making the search and rescue operations extremely difficult.
