High Court stays disqualification of KM Shaji MLA for two weeks

Kochi : The Kerala High Court on Friday stayed the disqualification of Azeekodu MLA KM Shaji for two weeks.The court disqualified Shaji on a petition filed by the then LDF candidate and journalist Nikesh Candidate Nikesh Kumar pointing the violation of code and conduct of the election.

In the petition, he alleged that Mr Shaji instigated communal polarization during the poll campaign. The court also added that a re-election should be conducted in the constituency of Azheekodu.

However, the court refused to declare Mr Nikesh as the winner and directed Shaji to give Rs 50,000 to Nikesh as court expenses. Meanwhile, KM Shaji made it clear that he will be moving to the Supreme Court,
