Redefining humanity: The story of a man who donated 94 rupees to the relief fund

Kerala floods, Positive news, Relief Fund

The saying 'God does not dwell in the extravagant temples, he is out there, in the streets', falls perfectly in line with a recent experience shared by Erattupetta former Municipal chairman TM Rasheed.

In a Face Book post that had gone viral in the social media, Mr Rasheed shared a heartwarming experience of a man who walked four kilometers to hand over a precious amount of 94 rupees for the people of Kerala, by donating it to the Chief Minister's Disaster Relief Fund.

The life of Mohanan, who worked as a mahout turned upside down after the elephant injured his leg. One of Mohanan's leg was paralysed after the incident, which forced him to quit the job. Now, he is begging in the streets to earn his daily bread.

His poverty doesn't stopped him from lending the small amount into the relief fund. Mohanan reached Rasheed's home, since he doesn't know the procedures of donating the money. Mohanan with his faint smile and dirt covered clothes left many dumbfound, especially when the people rush with the mighty hash tags pointing out conditions to donate to the fund collection.

From Mohanan to the girl who donated her heart surgery money to the Kerala Relief fund, people are out there, redefining the meaning of humanity.
