NASA release before-after images of Kerala floods

Kochi: Kerala is limping back to normalcy from its worst flood in a century that has left over 322 people dead and several homeless. The images released by National Aeronautics and Space Administration shows the extend and severity of the flood.

The first satellite image was taken on February 6, 2018.

The second image taken on August 22, 2018 shows the massive extend of the flood. About 322 people lost their lives in the devastating deluge and more than 4 lakh people were displaced into the relief camps.

Thirty five out of the forty two dams within the state were opened for the first time in history. All five overflow gates of the Idukki reservoir were opened at the same time, for the first time in 26 years.
