New Delhi: A merger between Uber and Ola in India could be on cards, as the rivals in the Indian taxi world are reportedly on talks for a possible merger. Japan's softback, a common investor in both India-specific Ola and global taxi aggregator Uber is said to be driving talks for a merger between the companies.

Softbank owns around 26 percent stake in Ola and has a slightly lesser stake in Uber. If the merger happens, we will see Ola absorb Uber's India's operations.

The combined entity of Uber and Ola in India will control the vast majority of the cab aggregation market in India, with over one million vehicles registered with the fleet. Currently, Ola has 900,000 vehicles registered, while Uber has 350,000 vehicles.
